The Manitou System Manager (MSM) requires configuration for each Windows user and any server running the MSM. The following steps through how to find and configure a new Windows user to access the MSM.
- Log into the server/workstation with the new user.
- Locate the MSM Config. This is found under Start - Program files, or by pressing the start button and searching for MSM.
- The difference between the MSM and MSM Config is the “-config” operator within the Target underneath Properties. If you are unable to locate the MSM Config through your search you can use the -config on the existing shortcut for the MSM. Remember to remove it before trying to run the MSM.
- When the MSM Configuration application loads complete the following:
- Configuration Name - This is most often the Machine Name
- Computer - This server/workstation
- Server Name - Server running the Manitou services
- Database user - this is most often ‘sa’
- Database Password - your Manitou System Administrator should have this.
- After clicking OK the MSM Configuration disappears.
- Double click the MSM icon on the server.
Things to check if the MSM fails to load:
- Did you enter the correct User name and password for the Manitou database? The best way to test this is to use MS SQL Server Management Studio and log into the database with the user and password. If you can connect, you are good, if not, that is the issue.
- Do you have the correct Server name?
- Is the database name actually MANITOU?
- Is anything misspelled? If you need to make changes to the MSM Configuration, locate the MSM Config app
