The Event Maps function provides a full list of Event Codes for each external alarm and identifies the Manitou internal code. The signal is then translated before processing. See the Signaling overview guide for information about how Signals come into Manitou.
Event Maps translate common signaling formats into their standard events. For example if a Contact ID event code enters into Manitou, the Manitou Signal Handler checks the Ademco Contact ID (ACID) for the code to translate the event. When it finds that value it translates to the Event Code for processing. When systems use the # sign raw programming, this value skips over the Event Map completely and ignores all features available in Manitou with the exception of the line of programming.
Event Maps level the learning curve for new alarm operators and help operations deliver consistent and quality services for their customers.
