SWS - Maintenance Menu - Events -Event Categories

The Event Categories are the overarching groups that contain event codes.  These groups set specific standards that relate to all events within the groups.

  • Event Category - This is the ID for the category.  (8 Characters Maximum)
  • Description - The name of the category.
  • Monitoring Group - What Monitoring Group the events within this category land.
  • Analysis Code - Code used for alarm Analysis. (8 Characters Maximum)
  • Default Action Pattern - Often left blank, this is an Action Pattern when NO action pattern is found at any other level.  
  • Default Suspend Time - The default period of time populated into Manitou when users seek to place an alarm On Hold.
  • Default Help - Most often left blank.  This value, when entered, appends to every alarm in the group as the first action item for users to review.
  • Operator Cancel from queue allowed - When enabled, if the event code is priority 5 -99 within the group, the operators may use the bulk cancel from queue option.  
  • Allow close if no action defined - When enabled, allows the closure of an alarm event within the category, if there are no actions within an action pattern.  
  • Client Processing - This is the same as Customer Attributes on the Event Codes and are manged for alarm reporting.  These are rarely applied on the Event Category.
  • Signal Processing - This is the same as Signal Processing Attributes on the Event Codes.  These are rarely applied on the Event Category.
  • Disaster Mode - Establishes the Default standard for Disaster Mode for the events within the Event Category.
    • Suspend Time - Is part of the Disaster Mode and delays the events in the category inside a disaster Area, delaying delivery, to the alarm queue.
    • Priority Offset - Number of priority numbers the events within this category will lower when the account is within the Disaster mode area.  

Companies may add and update the Event Categories that are most effective in their organization.  

In order for Manitou Signal Processing Attributes and Transmitter Programming Commands to function properly, the Alarm and Restore events must be housed within the same Event Category.
