Manitou Services

The Manitou Services work together to make up the entire Manitou alarm monitoring system.

The following details what the Services were and how they function.

Broker - This is the element that verifies licensing.
Sentry - This application must run on the same server as the Broker. The Sentry is responsible for granting tokens for access and load balancing when there are multiple Application servers.
- When a user attempts to log into Manitou, the Sentry notifies the Broker. The Broker then conrfirms if there is appropirate licensing to allow the user to access. If so, the Broker provides a token to access through the Sentry.
Application Server - This service runs the Manitou applications including Mantiou, Supervisior Workstation, and the like.
Front End Processor - The Front End Processor, also known as the FEP, communicates with the alarm receiving equipment, physical or virtual, and processes the alarm protocol.
Marshaller - This service aids in load balancing between the Front End Processor and the Signal Handler.
Signal Handler - Manages the signal translations, and applying the action patterns to alarm events.
Overdue Checker - The Overdue checker looks for any items that are expired, early, or late.
- Please note, if the Overdue checker is not running, On Test accounts will not automatically return to service.
Report Server - This service runs reports within Manitou.
Report Scheduler - This, in conjuction with the Overdue checker, the report scheduler notifies the
Publisher - This service sends reports, emails, and the like out of Manitou.
- The publisher is responsible for handing off the items to the external technology. If the printer, email, or fax acknowledges receipt of the message, Manitou lists the publishing as a success. If the item doesn't arrive to the final destination after the acknowledgement, please research the end point or pathway.
Auto Client - This functions as a "virtual operator" where it "looks" at each event as it enters into the alarm processing to see if the action items may process without a person speaking to another person. Users may hand off action pattern items to the Auto Client while handling alarms as well.
Router - Connects communications between accounting or other software systems. The Router manages the data between the systems.
IP Receiver - The IP receiver emulates what a physical receiver would do. Instead of physical phone lines plugged into the back of a hardware receiver, the IP receiver looks at TCP/IP communications.
Watchdog - This manages the audio and visual alerts about delays, issues, or failures within Manitou.
License Manager - Allows for license updates when companies purchase or add on items.
Telephony Server - Connects to the MediaGateway for communications related to phone calls or PBX servers.
MediaGateway - Connects Manitou features to the MediaGateway that allows for items like OpenVoice, DirectConnect, Two-way voice, PBX Server, and the like.
Location Server - Links the licensing for mapping GPS to alarm locations and providing the applicable PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) authority details within the alarm processing screens.
