Open/Close Schedules are used to monitor and manage access to a monitored location.
The Open/Close schedule is designed to mange for the entire 24 hour day and allow for schedules that cross the 24 hour line. To do this, Manitou offers a number of features and creates specific logic based on the setting. The following vocabulary is important for understanding Open/Close schedules within Manitou.
Manitou Open/Close Schedule Vocabulary
- May Open - The time where a user may disarm the monitored location. This is the "earliest" time someone may disarm the location.
- Must Open - The time where, when monitored, if the site is NOT disarmed, that Manitou generates a Late to Open.
- May Open/Close - The beginning of a period of time where users may arm and disarm the system as often as they would like.
- May Close - This is the earliest time a user at the monitored location may arm the system to close.
- Must Close - The time that, when monitored, the site should be armed, and if it is not, Manitou generates a Late to Close. Upon the Must Close time, the system, when monitored, assumes that no arm or disarm activity will occur until the next May Open (or May Open/Close) time.
- No Activity - The time when the system expects no arm/disarm activity until the next May Open (or May Open/Close). This is used most often when the operations does not need to receive a Late to Close event.
- May Temp Open - This sets the earliest time someone may disarm the system temporarily after a Must Close or No Activity period begins. Only User IDs that are tied to contacts with May Temp Open may disarm the monitored site in this period.
Manitou Events involved in Open/Close Schedules
These are the event codes directly related to monitoring Open/Close schedules in Manitou. Alarm systems may send differing signals from the monitored location. Events preceded with an asterisk (*), in general, are generated by the Manitou Signal Handler.
- Open (OP, OP1, *O) - Disarm sent from the monitored location.
- Close (CL, CL1, *C) - Arming sent from the monitored location.
- Late to Open (*LO) or Late to Close (*LC) - No arm or disarm event received from the monitored location by the prescribed MUST schedule entry. Manitou's Signal Handler creates a new event upon notification from the Overdue checker that there was a violation of the schedule.
- Late Open (*OL) or Late Close (*LC) - An Arm or Disarm received from the monitored location after the schedule violation occurs. This is also in proximity of the schedule defined by the Manitou Options. Manitou's Signal Handler changes the event received from the location to the new event based on the option time frame.
- Early Open (*OE) or Early Close (*OC) - An Arm or Disarm received from the monitored location outside of, but in proximity to, the schedule open or close time frame. This is also set in the Manitou Options. Manitou's Signal Handler changes the event received from the location to the new event based on the option time frame.
- Unscheduled Open (*UO) or Unscheduled Close (*UC) - An arm or disarm received from the monitored location that is outside of the defined schedule beyond the early or late windows. The Manitou Signal Handler changes the incoming event based on the violation of the schedule.
Other events related to Open/Close are Unexpected Close (*CX) or Unexpected Open (*OX) which the Manitou Signal Handler generates when the area monitored with the schedule is already in the armed or disarmed state. For example, if a panel sends a Closing to arm the system then sends another closing before sending an Open, that is an Unexpected Close. The area monitored was already in a closed state.
Monitoring Open/Close Schedules
The Open/Close schedule, once created, links to specified available Areas on customer record Systems and may be monitored or simply tracked in the account history.
Open/Close Services for Billing
Upon linking a schedule to an area Manitou applies a Monitoring service for that area of Open/Close Monitor, or Open/Close Log.
- Open/Close Monitor - Brings violations of the schedule to an alarm monitoring operator.
- Open/Close Log - Does not bring schedule violations to an operator's attention.
Automatic Notification of Open/Close Events
Manitou also offers the ability to generate alarms based on the open or close events that can be used to automatically notify end users of the Arming or Disarming of the monitored locations. These are also tied to Services in Manitou which may be billed if desired.
Here and Here are instructions for automatic notifications of Open/Close events.
